Ridley Scott Talks Prometheus And Blade Runner Sequel Plot Details

I must be one of the very few people who had an inkling Prometheus from the start was going to be more a dialogue driven film touching on the origins  than a straight up Aliens films. It’s amazing to here many people queuing up to rip it apart, it’s not perfect but its not the worse film in world so like it or not Prometheus 2 is coming plus 3 which should bring us closer to the original franchise. With Prometheus released this week on DVD and Blu Ray  Ridley Scott has been speaking this week to free newspaper The Metro revealing some plot details for the sequel he even put to rest a story for Blade Runner 2.

Scott first describes Prometheus as “evolved into a whole other universe”

You’ve got a person [Noomi Rapace’s Elizabeth Shaw] with a head in a bag [Michael Fassbender’s ethically questionable android David] that functions and has an IQ of 350. It can explain to her how to put the head back on the body and she’s gonna think about that long and hard because, once the head is back on his body, he’s dangerous.”

If you are a reader of Empire magazine in this month’s edition the interview Jon Spaights  Prometheus original screenwriter said: “dangerous” barely covers it – David has the potential (or did, anyway), to be an extraordinary character, a scientific and rational destruction bringer. Say what you like about Prometheus, there are some fascinating possibilites about where to go next. Like, say, “paradise..

They’re going off to paradise but it could be the most savage, horrible place,” Scott adds. “Who are the Engineers?

In the same interview Scott laid to rest talk on an old Blade Runner rumour as well confirming the sequel will happen “It’s not a rumour – it’s happening. With Harrison Ford? I don’t know yet. Is he too old? Well, he was a Nexus-6 so we don’t know how long he can live [laughs]. And that’s all I’m going to say at this stage.”

Well yes Harrison Ford is a replicant, off fans of the film would already have guessed this however we’ve never heard it straight from the horses mouth and Sir Ridley Scott has finally confirmed what we knew all along. No more information on Blade Runner two apart from the possibility of the film’s protagonist been female and original screenwriter Hampton Francher is onboard.
