Ridley Scott Returning To New Blade Runner Movie!!!

The world’s cinephiles jaws dropped in shock when it was announced earlier this year that Ridley Scott’s Blade Runner was to be remade (or at least a prequel or sequel) after the rights where bought byย Alcon Entertainment. The rights that the Warner Bros associated company bought gives them the right to do what they please be it prequel, sequel, reboot, television, games, etc….. Fans of the original out of everyone where the most outspoken about Phillip K Dick’sย Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep returning to the big screen for at least one more flick and you couldn’t blame them as its like treading on eggshell determined not to break any shell, this is how fans and even critics of cult classics when they hear their beloved movie will go into production again.
Ridley Scott seems to be stuck in a constant trip down memory lane when it comes to choosing his next projects. As we know he is currently working on Prometheus the sci-fi horror which has Aliens ‘dna’ in it and now he’s going back to another one of his greatest flicks to direct as well produce, yes! Blade Runner!!! Fans of the original are now letting out the loudest sigh of relief that their precious film wont be destroyed by a over the top crapness by MCG the film director whose so lazy he cant be bothered to use his whole name, even though Im not the movies biggest fan I do appreciate why people love it along with the determination not to let MCG destroy another sacred cult classic (hasta la vista MCG!).
Let’s be honest in the 1980’s Ridley Scott gave the decade a big helping hand with 2 inspirational sci-fi classics, 2 movies he’s now returning to 30 years on but with the recent handling of the Aliens prequel come Aliens ‘DNA’ flick Prometheus woud that put Blade Runner fans of as it seems Scott will take the same route? ย Well during a meeting with Scott and Alcon’s Broderick Johnson a gentleman’s handshake was agreed along with the promise that the new film will standย separate from the 1982 Blade Runner version.
As and when this movie will appear on a cinema screen near you, expect at least 2014 with production to kick off 2013 giving Ridley Scott time to finish off his Alien’s prequel, oops! Prometheus double bill, giving the director plenty time to find and meet the projects writers to produce a draft then probably full script as well as get pre production started too. One burning question people will be asking, Will Harrison Ford be returning? Here’s what Alcon Producer Andrew Kosgrove had to say about the matter:
In no way do I speak for Ridley Scott, but if youโre asking me will this movie have anything to do with Harrison Ford, the answer is no. This is a total reinvention, and in my mind that means doing everything fresh, including casting.
So what do you think? Happy the movies is coming back with Ridley Scott in place or should the idea of more Blade Runner movies be scrapped? Leave your thoughts below in the comments section after you read the official press release.
