Pedro Pascal Set To Play Joel In The Last Of Us TV Show?

Virtually since the popular video was created, The Last Of Us film or television adaptation has been on the cards. Over the years there’s been endless rumours who will play the leading roles, late last night Deadline announced the TV show has their Joel.  The website is reporting The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal is set to play Joel in the upcoming HBO TV Show.

This news comes hours after the news broke  it was announced  that Bella Ramsey is set to play Ellie. Meaning its  The Game Of Thrones reunion which Pascal played Oberyn Martell with Ramsey Lyanna Mormont. The mega hit show was also a HBO show.

Several names have been touted to play Joel, like fellow The Game of Thrones star Nikolaj Coster-Waldau has been mentioned. For a long time it looked like Mahershala Ali (Moonlight) was set to play Joel unfortunately nothing happened for Ali.

Here’s how Deadline described the plot of the game the TV Show will be based on…
“Based on the critically acclaimed video game The Last of Us, developed by Naughty Dog exclusively for the PlayStation platforms, the story takes place twenty years after modern civilization has been destroyed. Joel (Pascal), a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle Ellie (Ramsey), a 14-year-old girl, out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey, as they both must traverse across the U.S. and depend on each other for survival”.

Fans of The Mandalorian will be wondering how will this news affect the popular Disney+ show? The report does state Pascal will continue his role, which if anything could help TV fans check out this new show. So fear not season 3 should include the actor.

Russian filmmaker Kantemir Balagov (Beanpole)is set to direct the pilot episode. Chernobyl creator Craig Mazin is writing the script with game writer Neil Druckmann. Personally I haven’t played the game, but I do know about it, I am a big fan of post apocalyptic films and shows I’m looking forward to this. Plus with Mazin involved, if he can find that bleakness from his previous show, we’re in for a treat!
