filmmaker Paul Feig about to direct Italian job

An exclusive tells that director Paul Feig is set on a new film, lining up a sequel for The Italian Job.

In very early stages, this will follow up the 2003ย The Italian Job ,ย directed by F Gary Grey and starring Mark Wahlberg, Charlize Theron and Edward Norton.ย This in turn was inspired by the 1969 The Italian Job, a British caper comedy starring Michael Caine. The film follows a heist that inevitably is foiled by a double-crossing, demonstrating strong success at the box ofice grossing $176 million worldwide.

This upcoming sequel has very little attached to it yet, withย Paramountย searching for writers to bring a little more reality to the story. It was before questioned whether it would follow on from the original version, which notably ended on a very clear cliffhanger. Years later solutions and resolutions were thought of, yet all roads led to a second film. Despite this, they seem to be sticking with the modern adaptation – and hopefully bringing a fresh Feig take on a comedic action film

Paul Feig is coming off his biggest box office hit The Housemaid, a psychological thriller grossing $400 million worldwide – his latest in a long line of films blending new dynamics with dark humour and suspense. This showed great success, and has already been taken up again by Lionsgate for a sequel in the works. He is further known for ย Bridesmaids,ย and creatingย Freaks and Geeks.
