The film centres on a married American couple who travel to a remote European town in the hopes of adopting a baby. What begins as a straightforward trip slowly turns unsettling as the couple realise something is not quite right about the place they have arrived in. Story details are being kept mostly under wraps, but the project is expected to lean into psychological tension rather than traditional crime or action.
Clarkson’s casting adds further weight to the ensemble. The Oscar nominated actor has built a career on quietly powerful performances and previously worked with Scorsese and DiCaprio on Shutter Island. Her involvement suggests a key supporting role in what is shaping up to be a more intimate and eerie story from the director.
