Orlando Bloom Gives Update On If Legolas Will Appear In The Hunt for Gollum
During a recent interview on the Today Show (via ComingSoon), Orlando Bloom shared an update as to whether he would be reprising his role as Legolas for the upcoming movie, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum.
The movie, which shall be directed by Gollum actor Andy Serkis, will see the return of Gandalf and Frodo to the screen with Sir Ian McKellen reprising the iconic role. This was revealed by the actor last month at a fan event, yet any mention of whether Elijah Wood would be coming back to the Hobbit role was left unknown.
Bloom mentioned during his interview that he has yet to hear anything regarding his involvement with the project. โI have not heard a peep, actually. I donโt know. I know itโs focusing on Gollum, so anythingโs possible.โ
When asked if he would ever return to the role if given the chance, Bloom said, โListen, Iโd hate to see anyone else play Legolas, you know what I mean? What are they going to do? Are they going to put somebody else in as Legolas?โ He went on to state that Legolas was โsuch an amazing part, Iโm so grateful to have been a part of those movies. But I havenโt heard.โ
Logolas was famously played by Bloom in all three Lord of the Rings movies as well as The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaugย and The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies. He even received the MTV Movie Award for Best Male Breakthrough Performance in 2002 for playing Legolas. Rumours of Bloom’s return, along with the other Lord of the Rings cast members, have been rampant since Warner Bros. announced the project back in 2024.
The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum is scheduled to hit cinemas in December 2027.
