Nia DaCosta’s Hedda World Premiere at Toronto Film Fest
Prime Video unveil global streaming date for the film
Curiosity will be rife in Nia DaCosta‘s 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple after 28 Years Later ending. That will be coming in 2026, for now DaCosta’s next film will be Hedda.
Before the infected come Candyman reboot director will deliver a period piece drama. Hedda is based Henrik Ibsen’s classic play with Tessa Thompson in the titular role. A young woman divided by past love whilst her present life becomes more suffocating. Everything changes over night which pulls everyone into a spiral of manipulation and betrayal.
Prime Video will premiere the film globally in the Autumn, today we learned the film will make it’s world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.

From writer/director Nia DaCosta comes a provocative, modern reimagining of Henrik Ibsen’s classic play. HEDDA (Tessa Thompson) finds herself torn between the lingering ache of a past love and the quiet suffocation of her present life. Over the course of one charged night, long-repressed desires and hidden tensions erupt—pulling her and everyone around her into a spiral of manipulation, passion, and betrayal.
The film also stars Imogen Poots, Tom Bateman, Nicholas Pinnock, and Nina Hoss. HEDDA will premiere Toronto International Film Festival in September. Then debut on Prime Video globally from 26th October.
