New Joker Featurette All About The Directing

Joker may be one of the most divisive films of 2019, Warner Bros have their ‘Happy Faces’ on now. Very few R Rated films make the $1 billion dollar box office club, Todd Phillips film  is now a member.

We do love this character study of Batman’s greatest foe, The Joker. Certainly grounded in reality, it may not paint a picture of mental health issues.What the film highlights is the treatment of those with issues, as well as ordinary people tired of wealthy people with heartless solutions.

The film has many layers and really we would be here forever dissecting the film. With the film now screening in 70mm making an limited tour around the country, Warner Bros have released a new Featurette. Called ‘On Directing‘ and hear from Todd Phillips on directing Joker…

Director Todd Phillips “Joker” centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone fictional story not seen before on the big screen. Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck, who is indelibly portrayed by Joaquin Phoenix, is of a man struggling to find his way in Gotham’s fractured society. A clown-for-hire by day, he aspires to be a stand-up comic at night…but finds the joke always seems to be on him. Caught in a cyclical existence between apathy and cruelty, Arthur makes one bad decision that brings about a chain reaction of escalating events in this gritty character study.

Arthur, who devotes himself to caring for his fragile mother, seeks out every father figure he’s never had, from wealthy businessman Thomas Wayne to TV host Murray Franklin. Caught in a cyclical existence teetering on the precipice of reality and madness, one bad decision brings about a chain reaction of escalating, ultimately deadly, events.

The film stars Joaquin Phoenix, Robert DeNiro,  Zazie Beetz, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Bill Camp, Glenn Fleshler, Shea Whigham, Brett Cullen, Douglas HodgeJosh Pais, Bryan Callen, Bill Camp, Shea Whigham, and  Dante Pereira-Olson.

The Joker is currently in UK and Irish Cinemas now.
