2017 is only 7 weeks away and 20th Century Fox Pictures wants to make sure we start the new year in the company of Assassin’s Creed. The talk of this blockbuster been based on an adaptation of one of the biggest games in the world might be off-putting for non-gaming cinephiles. Through the previous promos like ‘Building A World‘ the world the movie the based in is explained, ‘Leap Of Faith’ showcased the amazing set pieces. Also, the movie is directed by Justin Kurzel a filmmaker not renowned for this type of movie so they want this movie to attract all movie fans.

Today we get another behind the scenes Featurette, called ‘The Creed Mythology‘ which tries to explain the basics of the mythology behind the movie. From the marketing we’ve seen up to now, there is a difference between the games and the movie, check it out…

Assassin’s Creed we meet Callum Lynch (Michael Fassbender) and estrange violent man on death row, who through a revolutionary technology that unlocks his genetic memories, he descended from 15th Century Assassins. Thanks to a device called Animus he experiences the adventures of his ancestor, Aguila who also a member of a mysterious secret society, the Assassins, and amasses incredible knowledge and skills to take on the oppressive and powerful Templar organisation in the present day.A fight for humanity begins.

I’m no expert of the Assassin’s Creed video game, but I appreciate this franchise has an epic history so the movie will probably only scrape the surface. It feels it’s trying to explain the battles between the Assassins and Templars which has been running for centuries. There’s also a big focus on 2 of the movies main players Callum Lynch (Fassbender) and Dr. Sophia Rikkin (Marion Cotillard) with first looks at Brendan Gleeson and Jeremy Irons.

Assassin’s Creed is set for a  1st January 2017 UK&Irish release, The movie also stars Marion Cotillard, Jeremy Irons, Brendan Gleeson,Michael K. Williams and Ariane Labad.
