Neill Blomkamp Made An Horror During The Pandemic
It’s been 5 years since South African filmmaker Neill Blomkamp made his last film Chappie. What has be being doing since especially during the Summer pandemic?ย Deadline knows what he has being doing during the pandemic and reveal he made an untitled supernatural horror.
Of course he has been made various short films, TV Adverts and attempted to crate new instalments for Alien as well as Robocop. That untitled film was made in British Columbia, Canada backed by AGC Studios (Midway).
The details of what the film maybe called or the details of the plot have yet to be revealed. The reports states it’s a project the director has wanted to do for a long time. It will be a feature length feature with aim to fully complete the film by Spring 2021.
Blomkamp was originally gearing up for The Inferno, an sci-fi horror actioner led by Taylor Kitsch. This film was pushed to 2021 which left him with a gap and with AGC’s backing he made this secret horror film.
The other question what actors will be in the cast?ย The report says the cast will beย purely made up of Canadian cast, keeping in line with the countries Covid-19 restrictions. The report further states โthere is said to be a strong sci-fi and VFX component in keeping with Blomkampโs previous three movies.โ
It’s now 12 years since Blomkamp’s breakthrough film, District 9. However it was his second film Elysium that was was higher grossing at the box office. Like his third feature Chappie, Elysium both critically didn’t match the success of his debut feature film. We do know Blomkamp is very good at capturing the gritty socio-politicalย tone strongly backed by impressive VFX. Here’s hoping this untitled horror impresses in many ways.
