Miss Bala Remake UK Trailer Gina Rodriguez Versus The Drug Cartel

Back in 2011, it was Mexico’s Oscar-nominated submission and nearly eight years on Miss Bala will get its Hollywood remake.

Catherine Hardwicke takes the reigns of the action thriller of a young woman who travels Tijuana Mexico for a friend after her parents die. She later finds herself stuck in a middle of a Cartel war with the Police. Gina Rodriguez plays that young woman dragged into that war as a mole for the CIA. Will she risk everything, and whose side is she truly on when your family is now in danger?

The original 2011 Gerardo Naranjo version the Gloria is a Beauty Pagent Queen wannabe. This one seems to follow a similar direction with less focus on Gloria as that ‘Queen’. It certainly looks a ‘safe’ like for like remake with one big difference, it looks more action orientated. It’s a big jump for Jane The Virgin star Rodriguez whose gigs mostly up to now have been for Television. More recently Deepwater Horizon and Annihilation have proven the actress she has the talents. She is also excited about been an action film star and a role women have already proven they have what it takes in the action genre. It’s also a momentous rare role that not many people of colour get a chance to star in too according to the actress.
