Masters Of The Universe Rebott Finds More Cast Members

It looks like it is finally happening, y’all! After decades of false dawns, we are finally getting a reboot of one of the biggest toy lines and cartoons of the 1980s – not to mention the cult 1987 film – with Masters Of The Universe on the brink of shooting and its cast has swollen some more.

Deadline is reporting that Deadpool star Morena Baccarin will be taking on the role of the Sorceress of Grayskull in the film while Haukur Jóhannesson (Captain America: Brave New World) will take on the role of Fisto in the film, which is being released by Amazon MGM Studios next summer.

Travis Knight (Bumblebee, Kubo & The Two Strings) is directing the film from a script by Chris Butler (David Callaham, and Aaron and Adam Nee worked on a previous draft), who worked on Kubo with the director, whilst Nicholas Galitzine leads the film as Prince Adam/He-Man.

Jared Leto as Skeletor, Idris Elba as Duncan/Man-at-Arms, Camila Mendes as Teela, Alison Brie as Evil-Lyn, Sam C. Wilson as Trap Jaw, Hafthor Bjornsson as Goat Man and Kojo Attah as Tri-Klops also star. The is already deep in pre-production with filming set to star soon in the UK.

Script details are under wraps but rumours have circulated that the film will change the mythology slightly, with Variety previously reporting the official synopsis as: “Ten-year-old Prince Adam crash-lands on Earth, separating him from his Power Sword. Two decades later, he takes his sword back and takes on the mantle of He-Man as he battles for his home planet, Eternia, against the evil forces of Skeletor.”

Masters Of The Universe is set for release on June 56th, 2026.
