Screen Anime continue to impress with their Screen Anime online anime film festival. If your looking for the beach you need to crowd this summer it’s the one on Ride Your Wave. The latest animated feature film from acclaimed director Masaaki Yuasa (“Night is Short, Walk on Girl”, “Japan Sinks: 2020”). The film receiving it’s UK digital premiere on 25th July 2020, the film headlines a curated selection themed around summer and surfing!
Dive into a story of love and loss full of animation studio Science SARU’s kinetic charm with Ride Your Wave, dance along to a cute tale about overcoming prejudices with the aquatic Lu Over the Wall, or discover the power of friendship and imagination with Mai Mai Miracle. Fans of the “Eureka Seven” Sci-Fi series can also experience the story’s latest chapter with this month’s curious curation, the UK digital debut of Eureka Seven Hi-Evolution: Anemone.

The Screen Anime July/August curated festival bill line-up will be available from 25th July until 25th August 2020. All films will be available in Japanese with English subtitles and English dubbed options, while “Silver Spoon” Season 2 will be available in Japanese with English subtitles only.

An emotional story of grief and self-discovery packed with Masaaki Yuasa’s animated charm. The surf-loving Hinako is saved from a fire by the handsome Minato, and they fall madly in love, but tragedy strikes when Minato loses his life. When a distraught Hinako sings a song that reminds them of their time, however, he reappears before her in the water. Can they really remain together, though? And what is the real reason for Minato’s reappearance? Winner of the Scotland Loves Anime 2019 Jury Award.

A heartwarming and enchanting mermaid tale about confronting your perceptions. Following his parents’ divorce, high schooler Kai moves to his father’s home in a rural fishing village where superstitions about mermaids force him to repress a desire to make music. When his classmates rope him into joining their band however, their melodies attract the affections of Lu, a mermaid whose joyous energy will make you question what truth lies behind those superstitions.
