marvel_logoOn Tuesdayโ€™s exclusive Marvel event, the studio announced the 8 titles that would make up Phase 3 of their hugely successful cinematic universe. This included confirmation of further sequels for the Captain America: Civil War(6th May 2016), ThorRagnarok (28th July 2017), Avengers: Infinity War (4th May 2018) and Guardians of the Galaxy 2(5th May 2017) franchises, as well as first-time outings for Black Panther(3rd November 2017), Captain Marvel(6th July 2018), Doctor Strange (4th November 2016) and the Inhumans2nd November 2018).

Black Panther was the big social buzz winner, as it was announced that Get on Up star Chadwick Boseman would be taking on the role. Boseman joined stars Chris Evans & Robert Downey Jr onstage at the El Capitan theatre in Hollywood to cement the news and reveal some exclusive concept art of his character, helping the film climb to a mighty 63,098 mentions. The film will mark the first time a black superhero will headline a Marvel Studios film, marking a turn towards a more diversified range of heroes for the cinematic universe. Furthering the diversified Marvel Studios superhero line-up will be the female Captain Marvel, who secured the second biggest social buzz with 36,994 mentions.

Marvel Studios has had a successful few weeks, as this event follows the epic launch of the Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer which generated a total of 185,155 mentions and 51,119 Intent-to-View mentions on the day of its โ€˜Hydraโ€™ leak. A new clip from the film, which also premiered on Tuesday during Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D, also proved popular generating 19,305 mentions and 5,083 Intent-to-View mentions.
