Lucy Liu Set To Play Villain In Shazam!: Fury of the Gods
Shazam!: Fury of the Gods has a new villain in the shape of actress Lucy Liu.
According to Variety, Why Women Kill, Elementary star is set as a Goddess and sister to already confirmed actress Helen Mirren. The reports says she will play the Goddess Kalypso, the sitter of Hesperia (Mirren) both daughters of Atlas from Greek Mythology.
Neither character has origin connections to the DC Comics, they are new characters created for this film. Shazam character itself comes from the origins of Greek Mythology, from the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury. The connection between our hero and the Goddess is he has the stamina of Atlas, their father. Because of the Wizard Shazam having this power possibly the reason why his daughter become the villains for this film.

Liu herself is no stranger from film franchises, with Charlie’s Angels (2000) and it’s Sequel Charlie Angels: Full Throttle (2003). She also played the popular villain O-Ren Ishii in Quentin Tarantino‘s Kill Bill films, as well as voicing Viper in the Kung Fu Panda films.
The cast will also be joinedย by Steven Spielberg’sย West Side Storyย remakeย star Rachael Zegler . Not much is known about her role apart from her character plays a ‘key’ role to the new film’s plot.
Zachary Levi will once again play our titular superhero with Asher Angel returning as Billy Batson who was chosen by the wizard for the superpowers. David F.Sandbergย is set to return to direct the film which will be based on a script by Henry Gayden. Details of the film are unknown at this point, Gayden did write Shazam! script. Originally the film was set to to start shooting last year but is now set to start filming next month in May.
