Kit Connor Reportedly Joins Marvel’s X-Men as Cyclops

Following the recent news that Samara Weaving has been cast as Emma Frost, Deadline reports that Marvel may have found its Scott Summers in Kit Connor.

As previously reported, the casting process for Jake Schreier’s new X-Men reboot has been extensive, with Schreier and Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige meeting with numerous actors for the highly anticipated mutant roles. The search may now be over for Cyclops, with Connor reportedly emerging as Marvel’s choice to play the iconic character.

Summers has long been a fan-favourite in the X-Men comics, first appearing in 1963 and becoming best known for his ability to fire destructive optic blasts from his eyes. He was also chosen as the leader of Xavier’s X-Men, taking on the responsibility of fighting for peaceful coexistence between humans and mutants while guiding the team through countless missions and adventures. Over the years, Cyclops has even taken on the role of headmaster at Xavier’s school.

The character has previously been played by James Marsden in three X-Men films in the 2000’s, who is confirmed to be reprising his role in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday and later by Tye Sheridan in the 2010’s.

The latest development is sure to excite fans of the franchise, with Connor joining Weaving and Sadie Sink in ushering in a new era for the X-Men as the iconic mutants officially make their way into the MCU. Disney is yet to announce who is next to join Schrier’s X-Men film, though Marvel has more reveals planned for D23 this August.

Connor has been on the rise since starring as Nick Nelson in Netflix’s hit series Heartstopper, which quickly made him a fan-favourite among viewers. Since then, the actor has continued to take on a variety of roles, including a part in A24’s acclaimed war drama Warfare. He is also set to appear in the upcoming Elden Ring adaptation, making his potential casting as Cyclops another exciting step in what is quickly becoming an impressive career.
