Ken Loach’s The Old Oak Set For December Home Release
That special place will be coming to your small screens next month when Studiocanal release Ken Loach‘s heart-breaking drama The Old Oak. Releasing in time for Christmas on Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download..
The film stars Dave Turner, Ebla Mari, Trevor Fox, Debbie Honeywood, Laura Lee Daly, and Jordan Louis. The film is set to be the veteran filmmaker’s final creation with his regular writer Paul Laverty on scripting.
The Old Oak landlord is TJ(Turner) located in a once thriving mining community North East of England. The pub holds a special place with the locals and TJ is struggling onto the place with his dear life. When the arrival of Syrian refugee things get very heated. Thanks to Yara (Mari), her camera she forms an unlikely friendship with TJ to try understand each other.
THE OLD OAK is a special place. Not only is it the last pub standing, but it’s also the only remaining public space where people can meet in a once thriving mining community that has now fallen on hard times after 30 years of decline. TJ Ballantyne (Dave Turner) the landlord hangs on to The Old Oak by his fingertips, and his predicament is endangered even more when the pub becomes contested territory after the arrival of Syrian refugees who are placed in the village without any notice.
In an unlikely friendship TJ meets a curious young Syrian Yara [Ebla Mari] with her camera. Can they find a way for the two communities to understand each other? So unfolds a deeply moving drama about their fragilities and hopes.
