Kelly Reichardt’s Heist Drama The Mastermind Gets A Trailer

MUBI have dropped the first trailer for Kelly Reichardt’s 1970s-set heist drama The Mastermind, which you can watch below.

The Mastermind stars Josh O’Connor and Alana Haim, along with  John Magaro, Hope Davis, Bill Camp, Gaby Hoffmann, Amanda Plummer, Eli Gelb, Cole Doman, Javion Allen, Matthew Maher and Rhenzy Feliz.

Set in the 1970s Massachusetts area, an unemployed carpenter (O’Connor) turns his skills to becoming an amateur art thief. We find him trying to set up his first heist; however, his plans start to unravel. Kelly Reichardt has made a name for herself in American independent cinema, making films such as Wendy and Lucy, Night Moves, Certain Women, and Meek’s Cutoff. This looks like a promising film, and reviews hint that this is a good movie.

Official Synopsis:
In a sedate corner of Massachusetts circa 1970, JB Mooney (Josh O’Connor), an unemployed carpenter turned amateur art thief, plans his first big heist. When things go haywire, his life unravels.

The Mastermind will be released in UK and Irish Cinemas from 24th October. If you live in the U.S, MUBI will release it on 17th October.
