Kathryn Newton Joins Avengers: Doomsday
It seems that everyone will be returning in Avengers: Doomsday, with reports confirming that Kathryn Newton will reprise her role as Ant-Man’s daughter, Cassie Lang, in the upcoming superhero epic. Newton first appeared alongside Ant-Man actor Paul Ruddย in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, directed by Peyton Reed.
The film was the third installment in Marvel’s Ant-Man series, following Ant-Man in 2015 and Ant-Man and the Wasp in 2018, and the 31st film in the MCU.
Newton took to social media to confirm her name will be credited alongside Rudd once again, Robert Downey Jnr, Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejia, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Joseph Quinn, Danny Ramirez, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellan, and Channing Tatum, to name a few.
Doomsday will be a direct sequel to the world-stopping Avengers: Endgame from 2019, as well as taking place fourteen months after Thunderbolts: The New Avengers, and will be directed by Joe Russo and Anthony Russo, working from a script by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely, who adapted from the Marvel comics centred around supervillain Doctor Doom.
The film will see the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, the Wakandans, the New Avengers and the X-Men band together to take on Doom, played by previous Iron Man actor Downey Jnr, and will be the universe’s 38th film. It comes as part of the MCU’s Phase Six and Multiverse saga.
A sequel titled Avengers: Secret Wars is set to follow in late 2027.
Avengers: Doomsday hits cinemas on December 18th.
