Jack O’Connell Joins Godzilla x Kong Sequel
The highly anticipated sequel to last year’s Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire, which is currently scheduled to release on March 26th 2o27, has added Jack O’Connell to its cast. The as yet untitled entry to the Monsterverse was fast-tracked into the Warner Bros. Studios release calendar after the most recent film in the series, directed by Adam Wingard (Godzilla vs Kong), performed incredibly well at the wordwide box office.
According to both Coming Soon and Deadline, Legendary are keeping OโConnellโs role a mystery. He will be joining a cast that currently includes Dan Stevens, who reprises his role as Travis โTrapperโ Beasley from The New Empire, and Kaitlyn Dever (The Last of Us) whose role is also yet to be revealed.
It is uncertain whether Rebecca Hall will return to the Monsterverse after starring in both Godzilla vs Kong and The New Empire. When speaking with Screen Rant about her new film Peter Hujar’s Day at Sundance Film Festival, she had this to say about her future with the franchise. โI donโt know. Where am I going in the Monsterverse? Nowhere, apparently! No oneโs asked me, so I donโt think Iโm in the next one.โ
The Godzilla x Kong sequel is set to be directed by Grant Sputore (I Am Mother) who is already delving into kaiju territory with the comic book series Behemoth which he has co-written with Ryan Engle. The prospects for this sequel seem bright in more ways than one. Everything seems to be falling into place both in front of and behind the camera, and now the talented Jack O’Connell will be joining what is already a very impressive cast.
