2013 is turning out to be a great year for  James McAvoy already 2 films under his belt but now he has a ‘filthy’ job but he’s doing it, watch the red band trailer for Filth.

Lionsgate have shipped us over the first UK trailer for the movie adaptation of Irvine Welsh’s cult novel of the same name which we have Bruce (McAvoy) a bigoted, bipolar sociopathic junkie cop who will stop at nothing to get what he wants. That means snorting every bit of coke he can get his hands own, shagging (or Nat King Cole*), determined to get a promotion with only one thing standing in his way  rival Ray Lennox (Jamie Bell).

First impressions this looks like a UK/Scottish Bad Lieutenant hopefully, its shocking, crude, rude most of highly entertaining and director John C Baird does look like he’s nailed the feel of the book perfectly for the big screen. Majority of Welsh’s books are based in his home town of Edinburgh but this looks more like Glasgow, where ever it is Filth looks a vast improvement on the author’s last book to movie adaptation Ecstasy which was nothing more than awful. With a great cast onboard  Imogen Poots, Jim Broadbent, Eddie Marsan, Martin Compston and Kate Dickie.

No exact date on the UK&Irish or even USA release date however we understand September is been planned for the UK release for now. If your at work I would wait until you get home to watch as it’s not work friendly!

Synopsis

Scheming Bruce Robertson (James McAvoy), a bigoted and corrupt policeman, is in line for a promotion and will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Enlisted to solve a brutal murder and threatened by the aspirations of his colleagues, including Ray Lennox (Jamie Bell), Bruce sets about ensuring their ruin, right under the nose of unwitting Chief Inspector Toal. As he turns his colleagues against one another by stealing their wives and exposing their secrets, Bruce starts to lose himself in a web of deceit that he can no longer control. His past is slowly catching up with him, and a missing wife, a crippling drug habit and suspicious colleagues start to take their toll on his sanity. The question is: can he keep his grip on reality long enough to disentangle himself from the filth?

* -if your wondering what the term ‘Nat King Cole’ is , it’s a crude Scottish slang term for sex which the Filth trailer certainly has!
