It's A Battle Of Succession In Guy Ritchie’s Wife & Dog Teaser

British filmmaker Guy Ritchie is returning to UK cinemas for the first time since 2019 with his all-new thriller Wife & Dog, and the first teaser trailer is chilling.

Set in the colourful, cut-throat world of the British artistocracy, the film follows the Fairbank family, whose relentless greed in a battle for succession sets in motion a dangerous chain of betrayal and murder.

The film features a stacked British ensemble, including Benedict Cumberbatch (The Imitation Game, Sherlock), Rosamund Pike (Saltburn, Gone Girl), and Anthony Hopkins (The Father, The Silence of the Lambs). Cosmo Jarvis (Warfare, Shōgun), James Norton (House of the Dragon, House of Guinness), and Paddy Considine (MobLand) round out the all-star cast.

And in true Ritchie fashion, the first teaser trailer promises plenty of violence, excellent action scenes, and a script that will keep us on the edge of our seats. You can watch it below.

Written and directed by Guy Ritchie, who also produced alongside Ivan Atkinson and John Friedberg, this latest feature seems like familiar territory for the filmmaker, with a similar tone and themes to his hit Netflix series The Gentlemen, which just had its second season premiere on September 3rd. But the trailer does look promising.

Ritchie has been non-stop for a while now, outputting six films and multiple TV shows since 2021. His last feature film, In the Grey, came out earlier this year, and he has another feature, Viva La Madness, currently in post-production.

Meanwhile, Cumberbatch has recently appeared in Jay Roach’s satirical black comedy The Roses, Wes Anderson’s The Phoenician Scheme and Dylan Southern’s adaptation of Max Porter’s book, The Thing with Feathers. Will he reprise his role as Dr Strange in the Russo Brothers‘ Avengers: Doomsday, the 39th MCU installment, in December?
