Is Jodie Whittaker Set To Quit Doctor Who?

Jodie Whittaker Dr,Who

2021 we will finally get a chance to watch the long awaited new season of Doctor Who, will it be the last for Jodie Whittaker? According to reports late last night the actress is set to quit.

The Daily Mirror are reporting the actress is set to hang up the sonic screwdriver and hand over the keys to the Tardis to a new actor. Off course the BBC are denying or even commenting on the report, about their iconic long running sci-fi series. “We won’t be commenting on any speculation around Jodie’s future on the show.”

Whittaker  broke all series traditions by becoming the first female actress to play the timelord. If this report is true she will follow the now series tradition of leaving after 3 seasons. Other former timelords Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi left after 3 seasons.

The newspaper quoted “It’s all very hush-hush but it is known on set that Jodie is leaving and they are gearing up for a regeneration. Her departure is top secret but at some point over the coming months the arrival of the 14th Doctor will need to be filmed.”

The report further claims the actress wants to pursue other roles.  Despite her claiming recently she wanted to continue as the Doctor to Entertainment Weekly.

1st January the festival special of Doctor Who played on BBC One. Which saw the Doctor face the Daleks  once again. The episode itself wasn’t revelatory or even strong enough to be considered a ‘classic’, more a safe solid ‘filler’ episode. The episode was sadly the last for Bradley Walsh and Tosin Cole who are leaving the show, Mandip Gill remaining. The post credit scene from the episode revealed comedian John Bishop is joining the show.

Season 13 is expected to wrap up filming this Summer. With series expected to air in the Autumn with only 8 episodes instead of the usual 10.
