Two generations clash in Viggo Mortensen‘s directorial feature debut Falling. Ahead of it’s UK premiere next month Modern Films releases the UK Trailer a sensitive, beautifully crafted film rooted in Mortensen’s own upbringing and relationship with his parents. Exploring the universal themes of loss, pain, and the need to connect, with a powerhouse performance by Lance Henriksen at its core.
Falling tells the story of John (Mortensen) who lives in Los Angeles with his husband and adopted children. Forced to fly back to his old home town to look after his raging homophobic father (Henriksen), who has dementia. Can he convince him to move closer to him to look after him?
When it comes to acting, Mortensen is one of those actors you can rely on to deliver. This looks intense and for many parental relationships many people will relate to the fragility and toxicity. Emotions will be high…

John (Viggo Mortensen) lives with his partner, Eric (Terry Chen), and their daughter, Mónica (Gabby Velis), in California, far from the traditional rural life he left behind years ago. John’s father, Willis (Lance Henriksen), a headstrong man from a bygone era, lives alone on the isolated farm where John grew up. Willis is in the early stages of dementia, making running the farm on his own increasingly difficult, so John brings him to stay at his California home so that he and his sister Sarah (Linney) might help him find a place near them to relocate to. Unfortunately, their best intentions ultimately run up against Willis’s adamant refusal to change his way of life in the slightest.
The film also stars  Sverrir Gudnason, Laura Linney, Hannah Gross,Terry Chen, Bracken Burns and David Cronenberg.
Falling is set for an Cinematic/Digital Download release in the UK and Ireland from 4th December.
