Horrible Histories has been delivering the history of world in a very unique childlike way and next year it will make it’s debut on the big screen with Bill. Today the cast has been extended and now has a Emmy award winning star amongst the ranks, from Homeland to William Shakespeare Damian Lewis joins Bill.
Bill tells the story of what really happened during Shakespeare’s ‘Lost Years’; how hopeless lute player Bill Shakespeare leaves his family and home to follow his dream. It’s a tale of murderous kings, spies, lost loves, and a plot to blow up Queen Elizabeth. what part in the film the Homeland actor will play we don’t know at this stage but will be a ‘guest role’.
Lewis will join the BAFTA winning lead cast of BBC TV’s Horrible Histories and Sky One’s Yonderland; Mathew Baynton, Simon Farnaby, Martha Howe Douglas, Jim Howick, Laurence Rickard and Ben Willbond who each play multiple roles in the film.
Bill’s co-producer Laurence Rickard told Empire “There’s this period where no-one is entirely sure what Shakespeare did.And it gives you great licence to play around. He’s done everything from contemporary dance to playing lute in a band. He’s never found his calling…”
Bill is been released in UK on 20th February 2015 with Koch Media handling the distribution, the film is also been marketed at Cannes for other territories.
