Hellboy Ron Perlman To Replace Mickey Rourke in Conan The Barbarian Remake

source WorstPreviews

NY Magazine are reporting that HellBoy aka Ron Perlman has stepped into replace Mickey Rourke as Corin. For a while we’ve known of Rourke’s interest in playing Conan The Barbarian’s Father (Conan played by Jason Momoa) but due to his scheduling The Conan remake is conflicting with his part in Tarsem Singh’s “War of Gods” (due out 2011) where rourke will play King hyperion.

Conan The Barbarian Remake is due to starting filming this month in Bulgaria and is been directed by Friday 13th Remake director Marcus Nispel and will see the story of Conan who as a young boy watched his village including his dad Corin (Perlman) been slaughtered. Conan seeks retribution against the culprit Khaler Singh played by Avatar bad boy Stephen Lang.

Though we do love Mickey Rourke’s new lease of life due to The Wrestler we personally beleive Ron Perlman does look a slighlty better choice simply down to his stature, Pyshique and the simple reason Ron Perlman is no stranger to fantasy/action movies. Only time will tell if it was a good choice when the film is due out late 2010/2011.
