Guy Pearce Is The Convert Watch UK Trailer
Vertigo Releasing have released the UK Trailer for upcoming historical, action epic, The Convert.
The film stars Guy Pearce and is directed by Lee Tamahori (Next, xXx: State of the Nation, Once Were Warriors, Die Another Day). The film focuses on faith and violence all in a period when the western religion spread it’s wings and in this case colonial New Zealand.
In The Convert , preacher Thomas Munro (Pearce) arrives in a small British settlementย in New Zealand in 1830s. He is a man with a violent past and that past is put to the test when he arrives in the middles of a bloody war between Maori nation.
This premiered at 2023 Toronto Film Festival to solid reviews, now it’s going to Digital Download.
When lay preacher (Guy Pearce – Momento, The Hurt Locker, L.A. Confidential) arrives at a British settlement in 1830s New Zealand, his violent past is drawn into question and his faith put to the test as he finds himself caught in the middle of a bloody war between Mฤori nations.
The Convert explores questions of faith, transformation, and the nature of violence. A visceral watch , ambitious in scope and action, the film is also one of the most authentic and exciting depictions of pre-colonial Aotearoa New Zealand and Mฤori culture ever portrayed on screen.
The rest of the cast includes Tioreore Ngatai-Melbourne, Antonio Te Maioha, Jacqueline McKenzie, and Lawrence Makoare. The Convert will be available to own or rent on digital download from 14th October.
