The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo DVD Launch Report

On Wednesday night, in caverns beneath Covent Garden, there was a gathering. People drank surrounded by glass cases with varying items within them; including silver dildos and bibles. This was to celebrate the release of David Fincher’s version of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo on DVD and Blu-ray.

The event was hosted by Sony Pictures and took place in The London Film Museum. It included an appearance by Steven Berkoff, props from the film, a series of stunning press photos and people by the door providing removable dragon tattoos.

With my drinks I sat in front of a screen playing a documentary from the DVD all about the torture scenes. Hanging next to me was a tied up manikin replicated one of the nastier parts of the film. Later on walking through the event, and into the museum itself, I saw a man who had chosen to have his drinks in front a large screen showing, on repeat, Marilyn Monroe’s skirt being blown up by a train in The Seven Year Itch, which seemed a far more pleasant image to get drunk to.

The event was a worthy one considering the quality of the film it was celebrating. A beautiful adaptation of the best selling novel.
