They may have stolen Major’s life but Paramount have not stolen our excitement and anticipation to see Rupert Sander‘s Hollywood adaptation of the cult anime Ghost In The Shell. Japanese Manga/animation doesn’t have a great record, however, looking at these stylish new posters for Rupert Sander’s movie it has a lot going for it!
Despite the usual moans about ‘White-washing’ controversy the movie has been picking up quite a health social media buzz. We can’t say if the overall movie will deliver (we hope it does), we just hope it’s not all style no substance. The marketing train was slow but as we creep closer to the movie’s release it seems Paramount have been upping the ante and impressing us with every new piece of promotion. The posters themselves don’t really reveal anything particular with Major poster sees our heroine smash through the glass in a vital scene. The second poster is off the creepy real life like Geisha Robo who give us nightmares!
In the near future, Major (Scarlett Johansson) is the first of her kind: A human saved from a terrible crash, who is cyber-enhanced to be a perfect soldier devoted to stopping the world’s most dangerous criminals. When terrorism reaches a new level that includes the ability to hack into people’s minds and control them, Major is uniquely qualified to stop it. As she prepares to face a new enemy, Major discovers that she has been lied to: her life was not saved, it was stolen. She will stop at nothing to recover her past, find out who did this to her and stop them before they do it to others. Based on the internationally acclaimed Japanese Manga, “The Ghost in the Shell.”
Ghost In The Shell arrives in UK&Ireland on 31st March. Starring “Beat” Takeshi Kitano, Juliette Binoche, Pilou Asbæk, and Kaori Momoi.
