DVD Review – Gargantia on the Verduous Planet
From Production I.G (Ghost In The Shell, Psycho-Pass, End Of Evangelion) comes a series featuring a mix of beautiful animation a story everyone can relate to, diverse characters and amazing action-sequences. An action-packed sci-fi adventure like you’ve never seen before. While fighting an intense inter-galactic war, a mecha pilot was accidentally warped into a space-time neither he nor the computer of his mecha could recognize. After waking up from a long-time hibernation, he found himself trapped on a planet, with human residents talking in an unknown form of language, using inferior technologies, and – most shocking to him – naturally breathable air.
If you are into your Mecha, this is a much watch.
The story is excellent, the action scenes are brilliant, and the sudden twists leave you on the edge of your seat wondering how the story will play out.
The story pulls you into the main characters gently as you witness what daily life is like on Gargantia; a floating island of ships. Once you are comfortable with the characters, that is when we witness the struggles and hardships they have to face.
The plot twists are sudden and shocking, some twists you might be able to figure out on your own before it happens, and others that you don’t expect at all.
The animation is crisp, clear, colorful, and strong comparable to FairyTail with it’s colorful clarity.
Gargantia on the Verduous Planet, and it’s OVAs are well worth the watch, and Bluray makes it even more splendid than it already is. A must see for any anime fan into their Mecha, and even those that aren’t.
The series is thirteen episodes, and two OVAs, which are included in the box.
