Gareth Edwards Godzilla First Trailer Smashes Online

Gojira returns! After his hall of shame 1998 Hollywood debut The world’s most famous monster is set to be unleashed next spring and tonight as promised Godzilla first trailer is here!

After the ‘leaked’ footage from the Summer’s Comic-Con finding it’s way online the buzz for Gareth Edwards 2014 version has been nothing but immense, so finally now we get our official first look. The film marks the  first mainstream feature for Monsters director and on first glance at this epic trailer his visual style from his last film can be clearly seen giving the film a more realistic feel. We love his style  and he told USA Today

“I’ve just got a secret fantasy well, it’s not very secret anymore about living in a world where there’s fantastical things like giant creatures and what it would really be like and trying to take it seriously. And there’s no bigger or better icon than Godzilla.”  adding, “To me, he’s like a force of nature, like the wrath of God or vengeance for the way we’ve behaved,” Edwards says. “If this really happened, it would be like Sept. 11th. I want it to be epic. I want to get the hairs on the back of your neck up.”

So we can expect a Pacific Rim style flick with a healthy doze of realism? They’ll be plenty of havoc, wreckage, what will Godzilla or Gojira  look like classic style? Whatever style the grand monster is I’m now even more excited here’s hoping Gareth Edwards can lay to rest that ghost of Rolland Emmerich’s version.

Godzilla will wreck havoc in UK &Irish cinemas from 16th May 2014, joined by stellar cast of familiar faces of  Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Elizabeth Olsen, Bryan Cranston, Juliette Binoche, David Strathairn, Ken Watanabe, and Sally Hawkins.
