Darkness Must Be Hunted In First The Exorcist: Martyrs Trailer!
Darkness must be hunted and that place will be in Mike Flanagan‘s The Exorcist: Martyrs. As promised Universal Pictures have unleashed the first official Trailer and a new chapter to an iconic horror.
The last attempt at rebooting the classicย horror was a disaster. David Gordon Green‘s The Exorcist: Believer was a soullessย mess and his ‘trilogy’ swiftly end. Now Flanagan, who is no stranger to the genre and mixing it up with Catholicism and according to the director the ‘scariest thing to date’. If he keeps his promiseย we’re in for one hell of a supernatural ride, this looks unsettling and very creepy.
Scarlett Johansson leads the cast for this version as a cop who ended the terror of an ‘unholy’ serial killer. 13 years on a new killer rises to drag her back into the darkness, putting everyone she loves in danger.
The rest of the cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Diane Lane, Jacobi Jupe, Sasha Calle, Scoot McNairy, Gil Bellows with Laurence Fishburne, Benjamin Pajak and John Leguizamo.
Synopsis | Thirteen years ago, New York City detective Julie Miller (Johansson) ended the terror reign of satanic serial killer Father Sunday. The case made her a hero, and she has thrown herself into her work ever since. Now a new killer scrawls her name in an altar boyโs blood on the walls of a church crypt, dragging her back into the darkness she believed she had buried with him.
Aided by former prison chaplain Father William (Academy Awardยฎ nominee Chiwetel Ejiofor), who heard Father Sundayโs final confession, and sharp rookie detective Gina Restrepo (Sasha Calle, The Rip), Detective Miller will discover a filament linking a lineage of serial killers, from H.H. Holmes to the Zodiac, that could corrupt everything, and everyone, she loves with an evil that goes well beyond the mortal.
The Exorcist: Martyrs arrives in UK, Irish and U.S cinemas from 12th March 2027.
