In the remake era of movies it would be a proper day without hearing what is the next movie to get the remake treatment or reboot or sequel talk and the 1980’s horror Franchise Fright Night is the next one to go under the hammer. Well the news of the remake of this movie has been around for a while but we havent had much information or gossip for a while and today The LA Times reports that Lars and The Real Girl director Craig Gillespie looks like the likely candidate for the remake of the cult 1985 comedy horror.

Gillespie has been very quite since Lars and the real girl which actually came out in 2007 but he has done some episodes of the American tv show United States of Tara. Staying with Tv Marty Moxon who currently writes for Mad Men but she also wrote for Buffy The Vampire Slayer has apparently written a script she finished possibly last year which would give a chance for Gillespie to have a look at it and possibly give some feedback to the writer.

I’m on the fence when it comes to remakes, reboots some i like some i really cringe at, I dont mind as much with sequels/prequels as long as they bring some logic and interesting stuff to movie. I have have seen Fright Night one and two a few times I cant remember it alot though I was 10 when movie one came out and watched it on glorious betamax (c’mon VHS was for rich people those days!!!) so I dont know if actually seeing this movie remade for todays generation. Even if it was a very camp cheesy movieย  sometimes it is good to leave a movie’s memories that way instead of ruining the whole shebang. What I can remember of the originals I did like the movies, if the new version turns out to be good stuff great but all I ask is Dreamworks doesnt take the quick buckย  and go all Twilight in style and targeting the same age group as it audience if they do they’ll loseย  respect of any of the original movies fanbase.
