First Masters of the Universe Teaser Drops Ahead of Full Trailer Tomorrow
The first live-action teaser trailer was released today for the Masters of the Universe film, offering the first real look for the eager masses. The teaser trailer was released via MGM Studios (Sony Pictures Releasing here in the UK), who have announced a full trailer that is to be released tomorrow.
It verifies nothing for the storyline, except for the most crucial point: the fact that the realm of Eternia truly does exist within the Masters of the Universe universe!
The teaser opens with a shot of Nicholas Galitzine as Prince Adam. Thereโs barely any action in the teaser, and honestly, thatโs kind of the point. Itโs not trying to sell the movie with big fight shots or flashy visuals yet. Instead, itโs more about the mood. The scale. The idea that this is meant to be a proper fantasy story, not just a throwback people laugh at for nostalgia.
The teaser itself is very short and doesnโt explain much, but it does its job. It gives you a feeling and then gets out of the way. Youโre supposed to come away curious, not informed.
The film is being directed by Travis Knight, whoโs already shown with Bumblebee and Kubo and the Two Strings that heโs good at mixing character work with big spectacle. That combination feels important here. Masters of the Universe is set to arrive on 5th June, and follows Prince Adam as he finds the Sword of Grayskull and realises what his role in Eternia is meant to be.
The cast is stacked too. Camila Mendes is playing Teela, Idris Elba is Man-At-Arms, and Jared Leto is playing Skeletor. From what little weโve seen, it looks like the film is trying to respect what fans remember while still doing something new, instead of just going for the safest version possible.
With the full trailer dropping tomorrow, we wonโt have to guess for long. That should give a much clearer idea of what this version of Masters of the Universe is actually going for.
