Final Destination: Bloodline Helmers To Tackle Metal Gear Solid

The Hollywood Reporter have confirmed that filmmaking duo Zach Lipovsky and Adam B. Stein, known for their work on Final Destination: Bloodlines, reviving the fan favourite horror series from the 2000s, and the independent sci-fi thriller Freaks, have signed on with Sony Pictures to work on an adaptation of the video game franchise Metal Gear Solid by creator Hideo Kojima.
The first game of the series was released in 1998 and allowed players to take on the role of Solid Snake, a soldier who takes on the mission of taking down a terrorist threat known as FOXHOUND inside a nuclear weapons facility. Metal Gear Solid received critical acclaim and cemented the stealth genre as one of gaming’s greatest contributions. It additionally spawned 16 follow-up games, such as sequels and spin-offs.
One film adaptation of Metal Gear Solid was announced in 2006 by Kojima himself, but he stepped back from the idea in 2012. Kong: Skull Island’s Jordan Vogt-Roberts was set to lead another attempted adaptation, with reports of his attachment coming in 2015 and his vision of an R-rated picture and Oscar Isaac starring.
It’s been reported that Avi Arad and Ari Arad will have producing credits on Lipovsky and Stein’s adaptation of Kojima’s game.
Lipovsky and Stein are additionally working on an animated film version of Marvel’s Venom comics with Sony’s Eddie Brock actor, Tom Hardy, producing, as well as a revived Gremlins film coming from Warner Bros. The duo’s additional directing credits include the shows Fraggle Rock: Back to Rock, Ultra Violet and Black Scorpion.
