Film Auteur David Lynch Has Died
Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet, Eraserhead creator Dies Aged 78

Visionary filmmaker David Lynch has sadly died. The Auteur, a pioneer, artist Mr Lynch has been called many things, he captivated millions of cinephiles worldwide.
The news of his death was announced in a Facebook post by his family on his sudden death.
“It is with deep regret that we, his family, announce the passing of the man and the artist, David Lynch. We would appreciate some privacy at this time. There’s a big hole in the world now that he’s no longer with us. But, as he would say, ‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ It’s a beautiful day with golden sunshine and blue skies all the way.”
When it comes to regarding Lynch as Pioneer it was in his surrealist filmmaking that put him in the spotlight. Eraserhead, Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, and The Elephant Man .Also in Television with Twin Peaks which is considered a ground breaking piece of work. The storytelling side of Twin Peaks is when he is simply visionary creator. In 2017 he would step back into that surreal world once again before the series would be cancelled once again.
Born on January 20, 1946, in Missoula, Montana David Lynch would start his journey into film in the 1960’s. It wasn’t until Eraserhead in 1977 before he would get his break, a film considered a cult classic. He wrote it as well as directed that film and in 1980 would make The Elephant Man starring John Hurt. A film got on the back of the success of his debut feature, taking us into Victoria England. Hurt playing John Merrick a disfigured man with Anthony Hopkins as his doctor, “I’m not an animal! I’m a human being — a man!”
The 1980’s was the decade which shaped David Lynch into the filmmaker cinephiles would worship. With the near disastrous Dune which nearly killed his career, despite being the highest grossing film on his CV. However 1986’s Noir thriller Blue Velvet starring Kyle MacLachlan, Isabella Rossellini, Dennis Hopper, and Laura Dern would change things. Taking us down a nightmarish rabbit hole which was a homage to Hitchcock in his own distinctive way. Off course to many his masterpiece came in 1989, Twin Peaks, 36 years on still loved by millions. The 1990’s it was Wild At Heart with Nicolas Cage and Laura Dern which would see Lynch win the Palme d’Or at Cannes. He would go onto make Lost Highway (1997), The Straight Story (1999), and Mulholland Drive (2001). The film that would launch Naomi Watts career, A old school Film Noir which was his favourite genre. In 2006 Watts would work with him again in Inland Empire.
