There’s been a murrrrder! Who’s on the case? Not Benoit Blanc but The Sheep Detectives! Watch the first trailer and find out who’s under suspicion for killing George the shepherd in the new comedy whodunnit.
Hugh Jackman – or should that be “Ewe Jackman”? – has been many things, but now he’s tending sheep. Aside from the puns, this might not be the sort of film we expect from Wolverine. This is directed Kyle Balda with Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner producing (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Fargo, Bridget Jones Diary).
The Sheep Detectives is based on Leonie Swann’s novel ‘Three Bags Full‘. George (Jackman) loves reading detective novels to his flock, but then something happens to change everything. George has always assumed his sheep can’t understand his stories. How wrong he was! Everyone is a suspect.
Jackman is joined by Nicholas Braun, Nicholas Galitzine, Molly Gordon, Hong Chau, Emma Thompson, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Bryan Cranston, Chris O’Dowd, Regina Hall, Patrick Stewart, Bella Ramsey, and Rhys Darby.
This looks crazy but the trailer is promising. Can they pull it off?
Synopsis | In this witty, new breed of mystery, George (Hugh Jackman) is a shepherd who reads detective novels to his beloved sheep every night, assuming they can’t possibly understand. But when a mysterious incident disrupts life on the farm, the sheep realise they must become the detectives. As they follow the clues and investigate human suspects, they prove that even sheep can be brilliant crime-solvers.
The Sheep Detectives will be released in the UK and Irish cinemas in 2026. The exact release date still to be announced. If you live in the U.S, Amazon MGM will release it on May 8th 2026.
