It’s probably the premium source for Hollywood these days, Young Adult movies deliver the bucks for the studio with very few sadly delivering critically. You could probably count those with any success on one hand, could we be adding another, Everything Everything? Warner Bros will be hoping so and tonight they have released the first UK trailer.
Starring Amandla Stenberg (Roo from The Hunger Games) a movie based on the best selling book from Nicola Yoon. The story of a young girl who is allergic to everything, but not the next door neighbour’s son, watch the trailer…
What if you couldn’t touch anything in the outside world? Never breathe in the fresh air, feel the sun warm your face…or kiss the boy next door? Everything, Everything tells the unlikely love story of Maddy, a smart, curious and imaginative 18-year-old who due to an illness cannot leave the protection of the hermetically sealed environment within her house, and Olly, the boy next door who won’t let that stop them.
Maddy is desperate to experience the much more stimulating outside world and the promise of her first romance. Gazing through windows and talking only through texts, she and Olly form a deep bond that leads them to risk everything to be together…even if it means losing everything.
How would you cope if you were allergic to everything? Your home would be like a prison to you and if your a teenager a living hell not just for you but parents too. Stenberg melted many people’s hearts in The Hunger Games and she looks to have built a nice rapport with on-screen love interest Nick Robinson (Jurassic World). There is a slice of charm with this one, but like most of the Young Adult movies that came before this trailer seems tp reveal 90% if not 100% 0f it plot. You could say it helps build an emotional bond with the audience and if Warner can do that they will be cloud nine.
Everything, Everything is set for a UK&Irish release Summer 2017. Co-starring Anika Noni Rose, Ana de la Reguera with Stella Meghie directing.
