DVD Review - Onus (2016)

Left Films has done it again! They have given us a lot of amazing films in 2016 and this (being there latest) is no exception. Onus Follows two hostages who wake in a forest chained together to try and escape, but there every move is being watched. How will they survive? Will they survive? Well, I guess you will just need to watch the film and find out.

This is an Irish horror film and after seeing Devils Woods from 2016 (also released from Left) I was very excited to see this film. With not too good a review online, this film was pretty decent. I enjoyed it a lot and found it actually very frightening at times. I found myself feeling scared and nervous for the characters.

At the same time, though, the acting was not always on point, but giving the indie feel of the film I think I can give it a pass.

Like with all films I never really tend to get distracted by bad acting unless it’s so bad that it distracts me from the film, in this case, It did not because it was a very infrequent thing.

Overall the film has a great sense f what it is trying to be and do it has a quality of threat running right through it. I liked that within the first two seconds of the film you are more or less thrown right into the action, which I enjoyed.

I think that is the way to do it in this style of film. The first half of the film was my favourite, it had a sort of hunger game vibe which was awesome.

All in all Onus was great and I Highly recommend it.
