Doctor Strange Is In Avengers: Doomsday After All Says Benedict Cumberbatch

Benedict Cumberbatch as a wizard in Marvel

After talk last week that Doctor Strange wouldn’t be returning for the next Avengers film, Avengers: Doomsday, turns out that was all a lot of boohockey.

In fact, the Sorceror Supreme IS in the new film, with star Benedict Cumberbatch quickly saying that he was wrong when speaking before:

“I got that wrong, I am in the next one,” he told Business Insider. “Don’t ever believe anything I say.” added Cumberbatch, with nothing when it comes to Marvel what it seems after over a decade of secrets, lies, games of werewolf, and more but it seems Strange was a much bigger part of the new two-part blockbuster than he thought.

Fans are feverish awaiting the latest Avengers film after the announcement last year that Robert Downey Jnr was returning to the franchise, this time in the guise of supervillain Doctor Doom/Victor Von Doom in Avengers: Doomsday, and, after speaking to Variety last week whilst at this year’s Sundance Film Festival, Cumberbatch was asked about Doctor Strange and his future in Marvel but it seems everything had changed, previously saying that “the character not aligning with this part of the story” of Doomsday and that he would be in Avengers: Secret Wars he is “a lot”.

“He’s quite central to where things might go,” he said. So his reunion with Robert Downey Jnr and Co is sooner than we previously thought.

Avengers: Doomsday is set for release on May 1st, 2026.
