No, Chris Evans Isn’t Returning For Avengers: Doomsday: “I’m Happily Retired!”

Chris Evans says no more Marvel

After news broke earlier that Benedict Cumberbatch is indeed going to be part of Avengers: Doomsday, as well as Avengers: Secret Wars, one of his old cohorts – namely Chris Evans – has assured fans that, despite rumours to the contrary, he won’t be returning for any more superhero shenanigans.

There had been some buzz that the “OG” Captain America was set to return to the MCU in some capacity, whether as Steve Rogers or as a new character from the multiverse, but the star

“That’s not true, though,” Evans told Esquire this week. “This always happens. I mean, it happens every couple of years — ever since ‘Endgame.’ I’ve just stopped responding to it. Yeah, no—happily retired!”

In the same interview, a profile on the new Cap Anthony Mackie, he echoed the same thoughts. When Mackie talked to Evans, he told him the same thing. “He goes, ‘Oh, you know, I’m happily retired,’” Mackie shared.

Of course, Marvel wouldn’t be Marvel without some porky pies being told, as we have come to expect, and while Evans could still return like Robert Downey Jnr, it seems fair to say that the star has had his fill. For now.

Captain America: Brave New World, starring Mackie in the lead role, opens in cinemas on February 14th.
