Disney + Confirm West Side Story Disney+ Debut Date

Despite it’s mixed results at the box office, Steven Spielberg‘s West Side Story critically was an success. Next month, you can relive the magic, or even enjoy for the first time the film when it premiere’s on Disney+ from 2nd March.

The  past few week’s have been wonderful for Steven Spielberg’s remake of the classic 1961 musical. Ahead of it’s debut on Disney’s premiere streaming service, recently picked up seven Oscar nominations. Including  Best Picture, Best Director, Best Supporting Actress, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Costume Design and Best Sound. Ariana DeBose at the moment is a big favourite for Best Supporting Actress role. The film also gained five nominations at EE Baftas the week before.

Our star crossed lovers  Tony and Maria are played by Ansel Elgort and Rachel Zegler. Young love stuck in the middle of gang rivalry in 1950’s New York City between the Sharks and the Jets.

Teenagers Tony (Ansel Elgort) and Maria (Rachel Zegler), despite having affiliations with rival street gangs, the Jets and Sharks, fall in love in 1950s New York City. An adaptation of the 1957 musical, West Side Story explores forbidden love and the rivalry between the Jets and the Sharks.

This new version of the film also stars David Alvarez, Mike Faist, Corey Stoll, Brian d’Arcy James, Curtiss Cook. Along with Ana Isabelle, Ezra Menas, Ben Cook, Sean Harrison Jones, Patrick HigginsJulius Anthony Rubio, Ricardo Zayas, Josh Andrés Rivera, Rita Moreno, Sebastian Serra and Carlos Sánchez Falú.

In addition, the ABC one-hour special “Something’s Coming: West Side Story – A Special Edition of 20/20’” is available on to stream on Disney+ now.

West Side Story will premiere on Disney+ in the UK, Ireland and USA from 2nd March.
