Die Hard In The White House, Olympus Has Fallen Trailer Arrives

Yippee Ki Yay Gerard Butler! Anton Fuqua‘s Olympus Has Fallen first trailer has arrived online and if you ever dreamed of seeing The White House under attack even destroyed 2013 might just be your year cinematically speaking of course.

In The first of 2 White House centred films coming our way this year (Rolland Emmerich’s White House Down with Channing Tatum the other), Olympus Has Fallen stars Gerard Butler as disgraced secret service agent Mike Banning who pulled the President Aaron Eckhart out of a car which plunged into a frozen river with First Lady still in the car. Now removed from service, disgraced Banning finds himself once again when terrorists have infiltrated The White House and the President now taken hostage Banning’s former employers National Security Team are are forced to call on his inside knowledge to rescue the leader of the free world and invert a bigger disaster.

Despite having more cheese than your local supermarket Olympus Has Fallen (‘Olympus’ code name for White House) does mark a return to action a niche that Mr Butler seems to excel in. The action is over the top ala Expendables, CGI with Butler doing his best to be a copycat of John McClane, plenty of one liners this looks the typical filler film before the blockbusters arrive like a warm act for a major music band. They’ll be many people asking why this one isn’t straight to DVD but I’m the king of cheese I have a soft spot for this type of film and will probably check this one out.

Olympus Has Fallen will arrive in UK&Ireland on 19April (22nd March USA) and stars Ashley Judd, Morgan Freeman,Robert Forester, Dylan McDermott and Angela Bassett.
