Prime Video have announced Lord Of The Rings: The Rings Of Power Season 2 is about to get bigger, with the addition of Ciarán Hinds, Rory Kinnear, and Tanya Moodie.
There is no word on whom the actors will be playing in the upcoming new series. The streaming giants have only announced the role they be playing will be a ‘recurring’ role.
The second season is currently in production in the UK as we speak.
The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power brings to screens for the very first time the heroic legends of the fabled Second Age of Middle-earth’s history. Set a thousand years before The Lord Of The Rings Peter Jackson movies, the series sets up many prominent events including the rise of Sauron. This period also saw the forging of the rings and when the ring bearers get their rings. Deadline mentioned in their report that in the forthcoming new season, elf Círdan will be introduced. He was the elf who surrenders one the three rings forged by Celebrimbor to Gandalf. This news was mentioned by one of the shows showrunners Patrick McKay in the shows Aftershow podcast.
All three of the actors are no strangers to big roles in various film and television shows, many established franchises. Oscar nominated Hinds recently appeared in Kenneth Branagh‘s Belfast , he’s also appeared in Munch, Silence, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows plus Zack Snyder’s Justice League. Moodie has appeared in Sherlock, The Man Who Fell To Earth, plus recent film roles that include Star Wars: Episode IX :The Rise of Skywalker (as “General Parnadee”) and Sam Mendes’ Empire of Light (Delia). Kinnear recently appeared in Alex Garland’s Men appearing in multiple roles, Black Mirror. He also appeared as Bill Tanner in the James Bond films Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, and Spectre.
Despite some critics very critics about the first season and the so called ‘$1 billion’ budget, the show was a success for Prime Video. What to expect in this new season, the details are still shrouded in secrecy, we can expect bigger battles.
