Chris Pratt Versus AI In Mercy Trailer
Sony Pictures Releasing have unveiled the UK Trailer for sci-fi action thriller Mercy. It looks like Chris Pratt will be fighting against AI, if not facing extinction!
This upcoming film is directed by Timur Bekmambetov who gave us the epic Night Watch/Day Watch. However, he also recently produced the much-panned War Of The Worlds reboot with Ice Cube and, from the trailer, this latest film seems to be in a similar vein.
What’s Mercy all about? We find ourselves in the near future which a police officer (Pratt) is accused of murdering his wife. In the future AI rules the justice system and the ‘judge’ of his case (Rebecca Ferguson) gives him 90 minutes to prove his innocence.
When it comes to films I like to give my overall opinion after I’ve seen the film. Sometimes the trailers don’t do the film justice and this one doesn’t. It’s a cautionary tale of the direction we’re going when it comes to technology. The action looks okay, nothing original and anyone going to see this won’t be looking for an Oscar winning film just escapism.
This one also stars Kali Reis, Annabelle Wallis, Chris Sullivan, and Kylie Rogers.

Sony Pictures are set to release Mercy in the UK and Irish cinemas from 23rd January 2026 (Amazon MGM releasing film same day in the U.S).
