In this one Jonsson is Taylor, a prisoner on edge of early release but his chances are threatened with the arrival of a new cellmate Dee (Blyth).
Wasteman will be released in the UK and Irish cinemas from 20th February 2026. It also stars Alex Hassell, Corin Silva, and Paul Hilton.
Synopsis | Wasteman tells the incredible story of how a convictโs chances for early prison release come under threat from his ruthlessly violent new cellmate in this uncompromisingly brutal British thriller.
Taylor (David Jonsson) is branded a โwastemanโ by society, his family and even in prison. In a world of drugs, parties, gangs and violence, so far, heโs managed to keep out of trouble. However, with the arrival of new cellmate Dee (Tom Blyth), the chance to make early parole and get his life back are put in jeopardy.
Dee takes a shine to Taylor and helps him reconnect with the son heโs never met, giving Taylor the chance to be a dad. But behind bars nothing comes for free, and with Deeโs ambition to rise up and run the prison as โtop boyโ, heโs not only risking Taylorโs parole, he is also risking their lives.
