‘Bluey’ Confirmed for August 2027 Release Date
The global theatrical release date for the upcoming Bluey movie from Disney and BBC Studios has been revealed as 6th August, 2027. The CG-animated feature film adaptation of the hit Australian animated children’s series will then be available to stream on Disney+ and on ABC iview as well as ABC Kids in Australia.
When the film was announced, the press release confirmed that the story will “continue the adventures of Bluey, a lovable, inexhaustible, blue heeler dog, who lives with her Mum, Dad and her little sister, Bingo” with the voice talent from the series due to feature, including Melanie Zanetti as Bluey’s mom Chilli and David McCormack as dad Bandit. The film is being written by series creator Joe Brumm, who is also co-directing alongside Richard Jeffrey.
Since its premiere in 2018, the series has become a huge phenomenon worldwide, winning numerous awards and becoming one of the most-watched series on Disney+. Brumm is executive producing the movie alongside Charlie Aspinwall and Daley Pearson for Ludo Studio and Justine Flynn for BBC Studios. David Greenbaum, president of Disney Live Action and 20th Century Studios, will oversee the film on behalf of Disney.
BBC Studios are financing and licensing the film with the theatrical distribution coming through Walt Disney Studios. The film is being supported by the Australian government through the Producer Offset and Screen Australia, as well as the Queensland Government through Screen Queensland’s Post, Digital and Visual Effects Incentive.
Bluey will release in cinemas on 6th August 2027.
