Despite been the ‘strong’ part of a mediocre Batman V. Superman Ben Affleck‘s career comeback has been on the up. He may get his ‘justice’ in the shape of his next film The Accountant and today we have the film’s UK trailer  he’s a “killer” with numbers…
A mathematical savant by nature but vigilante by night, can Christian Wolff ever lead normal life? Define normal?!
In The Accountant Christian Wolff (Affleck) is a math savant with more affinity for numbers than people. Behind the cover of a small-town CPA office, he works as a freelance accountant for some of the world’s most dangerous criminal organizations. With the Treasury Department’s Crime Enforcement Division, run by Ray King (J.K. Simmons), starting to close in, Christian takes on a legitimate client: a state-of- the- art robotics company where an accounting clerk (Anna Kendrick) has discovered a discrepancy involving millions of dollars. But as Christian uncooks the books and gets closer to the truth, it is the body count that starts to rise.
After pushing his next directorial film Live By Night once again choosing to act only as he saw alot in The Accountant. Gavin O’Connor directing, himself on similar path to Affleck in filmmaking with the underrated Warrior only recently directing troubled production, Jane Got A Gun. A film that was released in UK with very little fanfare however with The Judge scribe Bill Dubuque, to push back his own movie maybe an indication how strong a film Affleck believes he’s in.
The trailer is essentially a teaser which is backed by a awesome song from Radiohead “Everything In it’s Right Place” which sort compliments Affleck’s character. Whilst Christian’s precognitive skills are extraordinary sometime we forget the person behind ‘the gifts’ and life can be one big routine. The trailer delivers a slow build up, very intense, mysterious tone that doesn’t give much away and Wolff’s constant druming at the end is one trope of a Savant sometimes always noticed.
The Accountant will be out in UK&Ireland from 4th November, co-starring J.K. Simmons, Jon Bernthal, Jeffrey Tambor, and John Lithgow.
