Amy Adams: Rise To Fame (Feature)

Amy Adams is considered to be one of the most talented actresses in Hollywood, and her rise to fame has certainly been an impressive one. Her extraordinary body of work has ranged from major studio hits to acclaimed independent features.
To celebrate the release of Trouble With The Curve in cinemas from 30th November, we take a look at Amyโs rise to fame.
Junebug (2005)
After a series of television guest appearances, she was cast in Junebug which was undoubtedly her breakthrough role. Her stellar performance playing a young Mum to be, garnered critical acclaim and an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress as well as a Special Jury Prize for her performance after the film premiered at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival.
Enchanted (2007)
Adams delighted cinema-goers in her next role as Princess Giselle in Kevin Limaโs fantasy musical Enchanted. It was a commercial success which brought her into the mainstream earning Adams a Golden Globeยฎ Award nomination for Best Actress in a Motion Picture โ Comedy or Musical.
Sunshine Cleaning (2008)
Amyโs performance in, Sunshine Cleaning was praised by critics with one saying that “The play of emotion on Amy Adams’ face is the main reason to see Sunshine Cleaningโ, and Amy and Emily โโฆ..attack their roles with vivacity and dedicationโฆ.โ
Doubt (2008)
Adams received her second Academy Awardยฉ nomination for her role in John Patrick Shanleyโs thought-provoking drama โDoubt,โ in which she starred with Meryl Streep and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Adamsโ performance in the film as the conflicted Sister James also brought her Golden Globe, BAFTA Award and SAG Awardยฎ nominations
The Fighter (2011)
Last year, Adams was honored with her most recent Academy Awardยฉ nod for her work in David O. Russellโs true-life drama โThe Fighter,โ in which she starred with Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale. For her portrayal of the tougher-than-she-looks bartender, Charlene, she was also recognized with Golden Globe, BAFTA Award, and Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awardยฎ nominations
The Muppets (2011)
She then starred alongside the beloved Muppets and Jason Segel in the musical comedy The Muppets. The film was a commercial success, and became one of the best reviewed films of 2011.
The Master (2012)
This year, Amy gave a stunning performance alongside Philip Seymour Hoffman and Joaquin Phoenix in Paul Thomas Andersonโs 1950s-set drama The Master. Playing Hoffman characterโs steely wife Peggy, she wowed critics at Venice and Hollywood Film Festivals. (read our review)
Trouble With The Curve (2012)
And most recently we see Amy starring alongside Clint Eastwood, Justin Timberlake and John Goodman in the beautifully crafted drama Trouble With The Curve โ A film, as Director/Producer Robert Lorenz puts it โโฆ.is a story about how we deal with what life throws at usโ. Amy fearlessly plays the role of โMickeyโ, a woman in desperate need of answers, which her father (Eastwood) will not give her. Even when theyโre together, theyโre worlds apart. But now, circumstances are forcing them to face their differences on common ground. In this performance, Amy has proved yet again that sheโs able to adapt to various roles and weโll continue to see her star rise.
