Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma Gets A New Captivating Trailer

Netflix is determined to prove Pedro Almodovar, their ‘Netflix Original’ film is worthy of not just film festivals but also Oscar contention. After a couple of years, they have grown in stature and Alfonso Cuarón‘s Roma may be their strongest case for a nomination.
The film marks Cuarón most personal project to date. A love letter to his homeland, Mexico and to those women who raised him. Filmed in black and white, the film has been lapping up critical acclaim every film festival it played at. Many calling it ‘soulful’, even some critics calling it a ‘Masterpiece’.
To be in contention to be considered for an Oscar nomination, the film must have a limited cinematic run which it will get later this month. The most personal project to date from Academy Award®-winning director and writer Alfonso Cuarón (Gravity, Children of Men, Y Tu Mama Tambien), ROMA follows Cleo (Yalitza Aparicio), a young domestic worker for a family in the middle-class neighbourhood of Roma in Mexico City. Delivering an artful love letter to the women who raised him, Cuarón draws on his own childhood to create a vivid and emotional portrait of domestic strife and social hierarchy amidst the political turmoil of the 1970s. Cuarón’s first project since the groundbreaking Gravity in 2013.
Roma will be in select cinemas from 29th November and on Netflix from 14th December.
